Tandoori chai Recipe/Smoky Flavored tea - Maida Ka Kitchen


There are many types of tea such as Kashmiri tea, Cardamom tea, Tandoori chai is also one of them. The tea lovers always want a new taste of tea. That's why, this tandoori chai is become popular in very short time. Every single person want to taste it. So, now you can made it at home and surprised your Guests and family members by this unique taste of tea. 

What is Tandoori chai?

Tandoori chai is same as your old masala chai with a twist, that gives it a earthy and smoky flavor. It is an old and traditional method of making tea. In this recipe, chai is made in the usual way and poured in a hot clay pot. So, it absorb the flavor of clay and give it a smoky flavor.

 Step by step Video of Tandoori Chai recipe;

Ingredients of Chai;

  • Milk 2 Cups
  • Water 2 cups
  • Black tea 2 TBS
  • Sugar 2 TBS
  • Green Cardamom 3 to 4
  • Cream 3 TBS (optional)

Method of Making Tandoori Tea;

1. Heat the clay pot on medium for 10 to 15 minutes.

2. Pour water in a pan, when it start bubbling add black tea, sugar and cardamom. Boil it for 3 to 4 minutes.

3. Add milk and boil it for more 2 minutes.

4. Add cream to give it a creamy texture but it is fully optional after adding cream again boil it for 2 minutes.

5. Then using a tea strainer and removing the tea in a jar. Now carefully place the clay pot in a deep pot.



6. Start pouring hot tea in it. You will see tea start bubbling and oozing out.



7. This process give it a unique earthy and smoky flavor and make it Tandoori chai.
